About this listing
This large, well appointed, family home is atop a hinterland hill, set in 12acres of Eucalyptus, (gum) trees at the end of a plateau giving 180 degree vistas. The home consists of 4/5 bedrooms & 3.5 bathrooms, (the study/hallway has a double bed-couch), overlooking the Hinze Dam to the west and the Gold Coast to the east. The house is surrounded by kookaburras, wallabies, kangaroos, many bird species including a variety of parrots & lorikeets, occasionally goannas, and other assorted wildlife. We also have miniature goats, free range chickens, (fresh eggs for brekkie), 2 border collies & an old cat. (you will be able to enjoy them without having to feed or live with them). The house consists of 3 split levels, which hug the hill and take advantage of hinterland and coastal breezes. Each bedroom has either a double or queen bed, with 3 of the rooms also having a small, double bed-couch. A child's bed or cot can be provided on request. The master bedroom & the 'east' bedroom have en-suites, the 3rd bedroom includes a shower cubicle and vanity, and there is a family bathroom including a bath/shower & a separate WC. The house comfortably accommodates 10 adults and up to 4 children. (Sorry no pets and not suitable as a party house).
All linen and towels will be provided. (however not beach towels).
The house has a serviced swimming pool; fresh rainwater tanks collecting healthy, filtered, drinking water; large, fully equipped, entertaining areas with a gas B-B-Q; split/inverter a/cons in each bedroom, and fans in every room including on the deck/patio; the laundry has a front loader WM, Iron etc & internal & external drying areas; hairdryer; kids swings, external toys and a trampoline; some gym equipment; racquets; books, games, 3 TV's with DVD players, (main tv with foxtel & Telstra Roku), a 1/4 size antique billiard table, wifi internet included, library; ample storage; fully equipped chef's kitchen; TV area and a separated lounge area with a wood burning stove. Provided is every amenity to ensure you all have a comfortable, fun, exciting and relaxing break, attending the games and having a great holiday, in your home away from home!
The property is set in what is referred to as 'The Green behind the Gold', having panoramic views of both the coast and the hinterland. Although you are only 10mins to local amenities, with local buses at the bottom of the hill, we would recommend having your own transport as it is located up a very steep hill, which is great for serious exercise, but no good for a stroll! There is ample off road parking, some of which is undercover. Most of the Commonwealth Games venues are within 15/20mins drive. Your Celtic hosts can be contacted in a separate, independent house on the property. House cleaning during your stay is available at an extra charge, and a full exit clean fee is $200. Linen washing during your stay can also be negotiated for an extra fee. Sorry, but there is a minimum 7 night stay during the Commonwealth Games period of 6 weeks i.e. including 2 weeks either side. A 50% deposit is payable by bank transfer when booking which is non refundable, with the balance & $300 exit clean fee due 7 days before arrival. A Bond of $1,000 is payable with the balance, and returned on day of departure. (any damages will be deducted from the bond). Arrival and departure times are flexible & negotiable, feel free to ask.

Female from Australia
Hi, my name is Yvonne and I am originally from Scotland, so Celtic in origin. I first came to the Gold Coast in 1991, and I have lived in Scotland, England, Australia & Brunei. I am a nurse, midwife & teacher, married to an Irish guy called Rod, who drives local buses. We love animals, local wildlife and respecting mother earth. We have 4 children and three grandchildren between us. We have owned our home for 12 years, and have recently put in a additional roadway & bought a tractor to be able to get around the 12 acres. We have been told we are very hospitable, having previously welcomed guests from around the world. We look forward to welcoming our Commonwealth Games Guests.
